We’re Back!
Hi. Jim here.
What the heck is going on here? What do I mean “back”? Haunted North Carolina never went away! Are there TWO Haunted North Carolina’s now? Here’s the gist:
In 2004, Jim Hall and David Gurney, members of Seven Paranormal Research, took over the reigns of that organization and rebranded it as Haunted North Carolina. Over the next several years, HNC grew to become one of the most respected organizations in paranormal research. A member in good standing with TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) as well as the PRA (Paranormal Resource Alliance), the membership grew as we added very smart, very skilled people to our ranks. The focus was always on trying to learn, SCIENTIFICALLY, what is behind the phenomena that we call “hauntings”. Our status afforded us opportunities to investigate many high-profile locations, appear in numerous media projects, and be invited into many private residences to try and help people understand the strange things they were experiencing.
As we are all volunteers, over the years members came and went for various personal reasons. In 2010, founders Jim and David decided to take a hiatus and left the group. The keys (literally the keys to the office located inside the Rhine Research Center), were turned over to Steve Barrell, and he was given our blessing to make the organization his own. He brought in new people, and over time changed the focus of the research. To be very clear, there is no ill will with Steve, and we completely respect what he has done.
But recently, I’ve been feeling the “itch” to get back out there. By cosmic coincidence, long-time members J. Allen Crumpler and Missi Brandewie reached out to me and literally asked if I was interested in getting the band back together. Heck, yes!
Now, I don’t want to step on the toes of the team currently using the Haunted North Carolina name, but HNC was always my baby. I worked hard to establish our reputation, and feel that our revival also has rights to the name. So, to avoid confusion, our logo says “The ORIGINAL Haunted North Carolina Paranormal Research”. Yes, there will be some confusion. We can address it on a case-by-case basis.
We are getting back to our roots. We will be active. We will be informative. We will be transparent. We can’t wait to get back to exploring the unknown.
